Hardcover published 1902 by George Bell & Sons, Indian and Colonial Edition, no jacket. The boards are square and solid, but lightly edge-worn, with bumps to the corners, and is marked in places. The spine is lightly sunned. The first end-paper and half-title pages have rectangular sections of shadowing, as does the last end-paper. The frontispiece portrait (Nelson) tissue separator is whole and intact. Fold-out facsimile letter between pages 95 and 96 is whole and undamaged. Light shelf-dusting to top external page edges, but otherwise the pages are clean and unmarked. Eleven portrait illustrations including frontispiece portrait.
