THIS IS A PLASTER MODEL OF NELSON MANDELA'S FACE, MADE WITH HIS CO-OPERATION, BY NAMAQUALAND ARTIST / SCULPTOR WILLEM BRANCA IN 1996. THE SIZE IS APPROX. 285mmx200mmx70mm. IT WEIGHS APPROX. 1.8 KG. THE TOP SIDE HAS THE WORDS : "FREE AT LAST" THE BOTTOM HAS THE WORD : "MADIBA" AND ON THE LOWER LEFT SIDE THERE IS A SIGNATURE OF NELSON MANDELA. THIS MODEL WAS ALSO USED AS A BASIS BY THE ARTIST TO PRODUCE LAPEL BADGES OF NELSON MANDELA  DURING 1996

WILLEM BRANCA ALSO PRODUCED THE BUST OF EVITA THAT STOOD / STILL STANDS IN PARLIAMENT. HE HAS AMOUNGST OTHERS UNDERTAKEN WORK FOR RAYMOND ACKERMAN ( PICK N PAY ). HE HAS FEATURED / BEEN REVIEWED IN NUMEROUS ARTICLES INCLUDING: HANGING AROUND THE GALLERIES WITH HERMAN LATEGAN AND FROM THE CAT WALK WITH FIONA CHISHOLM.
