Nelson Mandela: United States Tribute Medal * HUGE SIZE*

The United States Tribute Medal in Honour of President Nelson Mandela.  Two sizes of medal were produced at the US Mint.  This one is the larger, and it is truly massive.  I think that the artist's depiction of Mandela here is superior to all the other renditions of Mandela on both coin and medal.  For this reason, I have imported a number directly from the US Mint.  Each is therefore in pristine condition and comes inside a presention gift box from the US Mint.

Cast copper with 10% Zinc (giving a golden bronze colour) with a matt finish. Diameter 76.5mm; Mass 260gm (more than a quater kilo!).  Obverse design by T. James Ferrell.  Reverse design by Thomas D. Rogers.  Minted at the Philadelphia Mint by Congressional Authority (Public Law 105-215).
