LP-E5 Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery Pack has a capacity of 1200 mAh(L-ion) and is rated at 7,2V, so it is possible to shoot up to 1000 shots at normal temperatures on a single battery charge. The battery is also more compact and lighter in weight than previous battery models.
The LP-E5 Battery also communicates with the 450D ,500D, 1000D,EOS Rebel XS, XSi and T1i digital cameras, so that you can always check the remaining capacity on the camera's power source info screen.
Chargers have a lamp to indicate when the battery is full.
