Oof, what a book! Although this book is in more of a 'magazine' format and has a heavy focus upon photos, it is nonetheless a wonderful source.If you're looking for a book that heavily focusses on the personal and private lives of the Romanovs THIS IS FOR YOU! It does not focus much on the political aspects or wider historical contexts, but the focus on the lives and personalities of the Romanovs from primary sources was lovely - the spreads dedicated to the daughters were simply beautiful. The photographs and writings from archives are simply wonderful, most of them being published in this book for the first time. The beautiful high quality photos of objects and paintings are also invaluable for people who like to colourise!
