Sugar spoon with the back stamp "NS" - we believe this stands for "NIEUWZILVER" (please note that the Dutch term or phrase for "nieuwzilver" translated in English means "nickel silver" or "German silver". Other common names for this alloy are "paktong", "new silver" and "alpacca" (or "alpaca"). It is a metal alloy of copper with nickel, and often, but not always, zinc. It is named for its silvery appearance, but contains no elemental silver unless plated. This sugar spoon would compliment the look of any tea or coffee set on display, and doesn't need frequent cleaning, unlike sterling silver.
