The ultra-fast maximum aperture of f/1.8 makes this lens a great choice for low-light photography, and when shot wide open, is capable of exceptionally shallow depth of field. Also, it utilizes one aspherical element to control distortion and aberrations and has a rear focusing AF system. The lens will focus as close as 7.9" and can use 40.5mm threaded filters.
