"This is a great little lens. It's sharp, fast, and tiny. You can buy one used for about $100 and its optical and mechanical performance is superior in several ways to the fantastic $1,800 80-200 f/2.8 AF-S. If you can do without autofocus and the ability to zoom you can get better performance in a smaller, tougher, lighter package, for 5% of the cost of the new AFS. This Series E lens is mechanically sturdier than most modern AF Nikkor lenses. It has a solid metal 52mm filter thread." Ken Rockwell
Here's a sample of a shot I have taken with this lens and my D90: http://www.flickr.com/photos/29501745@N05/3484753899/in/set-72157607511266141/
Here's a whole lot of photos and discussion about this awesome lens: http://www.flickr.com/groups/365610@N21/discuss/72157604899012951/
Please note that it's a manual focus lens, and on many of the recent digital cameras, D40, D60, D90 you will also have to meter manually. But as you can see from the samples and discussions above...it's a great lens and has been used on all the above-mentioned camera bodies and more! My only reason for selling this gem, is that I have no use for it since I have bought the Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8 AF lens, and I need to make up some money for another recent lens purchase!
This lens is in great condition (both the barrel and optics are immaculate) and it comes with a Hoya hood, and both end caps.
