HISTORY OF THE NIKON F SLR CAMERA: THE NIKKON F IS THE GRANDDADDY OF ALL SLR CAMERAS. In fact, in many ways, it was the best SLR Camera ever made and it is still better than a lot of cameras that came out way later. Nikon F is a 35mm film SLR camera, manufactured by Nippon Kogaku K. K., Japan ( Nikon Corporation since 1988), and produced between 1959-74. It introduced the world to the F-Mount (bayonet-style mount) that Nikon still has trouble letting go of today. The Nikon F remained in production for 14 years. Since its inception in 1959, Nikon F has been in continuous production until May 1974. The serial number of the fuselage has been 6400001to 7451052. In 1965, a total of 862,600 units were produced.
Why the letter F? According to legend, the letter F was the only prominent letter in the word reflex that was easy to pronounce in any language.
INDESTRUCTABLE TANKS: TAKE IT THROUGH A RIVER! GO TO THE ARCTIC! GET SHOT AT IN THE BATTLEFIELD! CHANCES ARE THE CAMERA WILL SURVIVE, EVEN IF YOU DONT.
