Nikon MB-D17
The MB-D17 is a multi-power battery pack for the Nikon D500 DSLR that extends the battery life and provides more comfortable handling when shooting in portrait mode. The pack features alternative shutter-release, multi-selector and AF start buttons for use when holding the camera in the vertical shooting position, as well as secondary main- and sub-command dials.
It can be powered by Nikon's EN-EL15 Li-ion battery or six AA-size standard batteries. When using the optional BL-5 battery adapter, the MB-D17 can also be powered by Nikon's EN-EL18/EN-EL18a Li-ion batteries, which are compatible with Nikon's flagship D4-series cameras and the D5.

Dedicated to the D500 DSLR, the MB-D17 Multi Power Battery Pack from Nikon offers both enhanced handling capabilities as well as extended battery life. It accepts one EN-EL15 lithium-ion battery pack in the included MS-D12EN holder to increase the camera's battery life. Alternately, eight alkaline, lithium, or Ni-MH (1.5V) AA batteries can be used with the included MS-D12 AA Battery Holder.

The Nikon MB-D17 DSLR Battery Grip is specially designed for the D500, increasing the number of shots per charge that you can get. It features a Shutter release button and Fn button for ease of use during vertical shooting.
More Power
The Nikon MB-D17 can be powered by eight AA batteries or by a single EN-EL 15 or EN-EL 18a Lithium Ion battery. When using the MB-D17 with eight AA batteries, use the MS-D12 Battery Holder. When using the EN-EL 15 battery to power the MB-D17 use the MS-D12EN Rechargeable Li-ion Battery Holder.
The BL-5 Battery Chamber Cover is needed when using the EN-EL 18a to power the MB-D17. The MB-D17 can also be powered via the EH-5b AC power adapter using the EP-5B power connector.
