Info: Under the competent management of owner and managing director, Eva Wittmann-Ott, our family business is now in the 6th generation, with a woman at the head of our private brewery for the first time. With her, our experienced master brewers and brewers are responsible for the tasty beers, which have long been more than just an insider tip - and have been for over 300 years now. Already then a brewery already existed on the former site of the Jesuit order in Oberhaunstadt, where NORDBRÄU is at home today. In 1822, the history of NORDBRÄU began: this year, Simon Wittmann leased the site of the brewery from the Jesuit order and acquired it in 1833 for sale. After a short time, the beer was known for its excellent taste - the sale went well, so Simon Wittmann was soon able to buy the estate and thus laid the foundation for one of the most important private breweries in Bavaria.
The beers were brewed then as today according to the original recipes of the company founder, Simon Wittmann, and of course according to the Bavarian Purity Law - which does not mean that over the years numerous innovations in Oberhaunstadt were introduced. Modern production facilities, new brewing techniques and a modern sustainability strategy are just a few of the modernizations that have transformed a traditional business into an innovative, forward-looking company.
