AN EXTREMELY RARE PATTERN AS WELL AS MANUFACTURERS MARK BY NORITAKE JAPAN. THE MARUKI SYMBOL IS DESCRIBED AS HAVING THE FOLLOWING SIGNIFICANCE - "INCLUDES A TREE, LATER CHANGED TO SPEARS TO SYMBOLIZE BREAKING THROUGH OBSTACLES, AND A CIRCLE FOR PEACEFUL SETTLEMENT OF PROBLEMS" IN 1908, THE SAME YEAR THIS BACK STAMP WAS UTILIZED, THE FIRST JAPANESE REGISTRY FOR A NORITAKE BACK STAMP WAS RECORDED FOR USE IN JAPAN

THIS LOT/SET CONSISTS OF A LARGE SOUP OR DESSERT BOWL AS WELL AS FIVE IDENTICAL SAUCERS AND FIVE IDENTICAL TEA PLATES. ALL ELEVEN ITEMS ARE DECORATED IN GOLD ROSE BOUQUETS JOINED ACROSS THE SURFACE BY GOLDEN FLORAL DRAPERIES (SWAG) ALL SUSPENDED FROM A GOLD DECORATED SAGE BAND. ALL DECORATIONS ARE IN MAGNIFICENT RAISED RELIEF
