This badge dates from the period 1933 - 1964, based on the history of the regiment.
The Northern Rhodesia Regiment (NRR) was a multi-battalion British colonial regiment formed in 1933 from elements of the Northern Rhodesia Police. It was made up of black rank-and-filers and white officers, and its motto was "Different in Race, Equal in Fidelity".
The NRR fought in World War II in Somaliland, Madagascar, the Middle East and Burma. When Northern Rhodesia became independent as Zambia in 1964, the NRR was renamed and integrated into the new Zambian Defence Force.

There is one very similar to this listed in "The Military Badges of South Africa and Rhodesia from 1850-1976" by Colin R. Owen. Unfortunately he doesn't provide any more information about it.
