Description: Sir Abdool Razack Mohammed represents the Muslim Community of Mauritius - he was a member of the Muslim Action Committee and strove for Mauritian unity, socialism and democracy and the committee's representative to the London Conference in 1965 for the granting of independence for Mauritus. He was also mayor of Por Louis and a Minister of several portfolios.
The Tamil people upraor in downgrading the language order on the note from second position to third position. It resulted in the firing of the managing director and Governor of the Bank of Mauritius and the replacement of the notes iin 6 months with Tamil back in second position.
