An indispensable component of regular 3D printer maintenance, this tool is a must-have in any 3D printer's toolbox. Ten hardened drill bits made of tungsten alloy are included in this set, which is used to clear 3D printer nozzles.
Sizes included: 0.1mm, 0.2mm, 0.3mm, 0.4mm, 0.5mm, 0.6mm, 0.7mm, 0.8mm, 0.9mm, 1.0mm. Suitable for all nozzle sizes from 0.1mm to 1.0mm.
Instructions
To clean the nozzle, heat it to the recommended printing temperature.
As directed by the printer's manufacturer, unload any existing filament.
The heated nozzle should be gently removed from the heat block while it is still at printing temperature.
By hand, carefully insert the drill bit into the nozzle from the inside out, following the direction the filament would take, being careful not to enlarge the nozzle hole.
After clearing obstructions, return the heat block to operating temperature before reinstalling the nozzle, being careful not to tighten it too much.
Before printing, re-level your print bed.
Usage Tips
A 3D printer's nozzle should never be removed before the printer has reached full working temperature since doing so when the extruder is still cold can harm the heat block and the nozzle's thread.
Never use a drill bit that is bigger than the diameter of the nozzle.
The drill bit should not be connected to any power instrument.
Because the drill bits are composed of harder tungsten alloy, which may easily harm the softer brass of the nozzle, use caution when removing the obstruction.
To gently remove any obstructions, use the drill bits while the nozzle is still connected to the printer and at room temperature. To avoid damaging the printer's filament feeding system, extra caution should be used when inserting the drill bit too far up the nozzle.
Details & Care
After use, the drill bit can be immersed in a solvent, such as acetone for ABS, caustic ethyl acetate for PLA, or limonene for HIPS, to remove any remaining plastic.
Correct Application
The purpose of this drill bit set is to clear any obstructions that may be present by inserting it into a 3D printer nozzle that has been heated to full printing temperature and removed from the printer.
Any other use could be harmful. Damage brought on by inappropriate or improper use or operation is not the manufacturer's fault.
For safety reasons, only try to use this device while wearing safety goggles and heatproof gloves, as proper use involves handling components that have been heated to an extremely high temperature.
