Product OverviewThe PCA9517DP,118 is a level translating CMOS I²C-Bus Repeater provides levelshifting between low voltage and higher voltage I²C-bus or SMBus applications.While retaining all the operating modes and features of the I²C-bus systemduring the level shifts, it also permits extension of the I²C-bus by providingbi-directional buffering for both the data (SDA) and the clock (SCL) lines, thusenabling two buses of 400pF. Using the repeater enables the system designer toisolate two halves of a bus for both voltage and capacitance. The SDA and SCLpins are overvoltage tolerant and are high-impedance when the repeater isunpowered. The 2.7 to 5.5V bus port-B drivers behave much like the drivers onthis device, while the adjustable voltage bus port-A drivers drive more currentand eliminate the static offset voltage.
