Functions

With the proper software installed on your Apple iPhone or iPad, you can use the Scanner to read the following parameters from your vehicle:

1. Read diagnostic trouble codes, both generic and manufacturer-specific, and display their meaning (over 3000 generic code definitions in the database).

2. Clear trouble codes (DTC), turn off dashboard MIL "Check Engine" light

Note: Not all the listed parameters can be monitored on all vehicles. It is largely dependent on the vehicle manufacturer’s implementation of the OBDII protocol.

Compatibility

The WiFi ELM327 OBD-II Scanner will work with all OBD-II or EOBD cars. Your vehicle is OBD- II compliant if it has a 16-pin DLC (Data Link Connector) under the dash and the Vehicle Emission Control Information Label states that the vehicle is OBD- II compliant. As a general rule, the following vehicles will be OBD-II / EOBD compliant:

• European: +2001 (petrol), +2004 (diesel)
• American: +1996 (petrol, diesel)
• Japanese: +2006

The functionality you get from the system is depended on what software you install on iPhone /iPod touch /iPad/ PC. A CD is supplied with the Scanner with the necessary software and drivers. There are also a number of commercial and free software applications available on the Apple application store. The choice of software is a matter of preference.

The Scanner uses AT commands to communicate with a host device (PC, notebook, iPhone, iPod touch, iPad). You can therefore write your own software on a specified hardware platform if you wish, because the AT commands are fully documented and very well explained.
