Ocean Yach navigator by Kenneth Wilkes

This hardcover book is filled with illustrations and contains 183 pages.  The purpose of this book is to show how to navigate small craft out of sight of land with accuracy and confidence.  In a manner which is essentially practical for small vessels, all that a navigator needs to know in celestial navigation is covered here.  The necessary books and instruments for navigating across an ocean are first discussed.  Then the principles, in themselves simple once grasped, are shown using two colour illustrations as an aid.  In the early part of the book the procedure for a single sun sight is carried through.  Once this is clear, variations such as latitude by meridian altitude, latitude by polaris and a position by simultaneous sights are covered.  Logbooks and charts are also covered.
