OFFERLAND is die tweede deel van Venter se roman- reeks oor die Groot Trek wat met Geknelde Land (1960) begin het.
Dit strek oor die tydperk Januarie 1836 tot Februarie 1837 - vanaf die tyd dat die Dreyers van Grensplaas aan die Koonap hulle by Blesberg, die huidige Thaba Nchu, by die trek aansluit tot net na die moord op Pieter Retief en die daaropvolgende Zoeloe-aanvalle.
Terwyl Geknelde Land hoofsaaklik oor die Dreyers handel- en veral oor Ru- dolf, sy koppige weiering om sy erfplaas prys te gee en sy uiteindelike besluit om tog te trek is Offerland 'n roman wat op meer as een vlak beweeg.
