An original Goverment of South Africa letter of appointment from 1893 from the State Secretary's office appointing Hendrik Hofmeyer as assistant clerk in the Office of the State Secretary. Remarkably, it is signed by President Paul Kruger and the State Secretary, Dr WJ Leyds. Two very important and influential men from South Africa at the time.
Dr Leyds was a Netherlands born statesman and lawyer who served as State Secretary of the South African Republic under President Paul Kruger from 1889-1998. He was Kruger's right hand man.
Overall, it is in a good condition for it's age with a small piece missing at top left and a few small tears which do not detract from the overall quality of the document - as per image.
