This painting of a tranquil farm landscape with a farm cottage in the background, a donkey cart and some trees measures 60 cm x 76 cm including the frame. The measurements excluding the frame is 59 cm x 42 cm. The frame has a chip in the bottom left hand corner. The backing of the painting is as per the photograph.

Pierre Francois de Villiers (1921 – 2007) was born in 1921 in Cape Town, South Africa. He was a painter of landscapes, flowers, seascapes and wildlife and worked in oils and acrylic. In 1930 he studied privately under Maggie Laubser in Cape Town and his work is sought after in South Africa and abroad.
