"It may never be established with complete certainty whether the "Portrait of Child with Bird" is the work solely of van Dyck or of Rubens. It is certain, however, that originally the painting was merely a head study, subsequently completed by the artist with clearly recognisable attachments, obliquely applied to the left and below, containing the hands and the bird. 

The overall composition of the plate has thereby gained much in emotional and colour contrasts; it has become richer and more "baroque". The original is exhibited in the former state museums at Berlin-Dahlem. Size of original: 49 x 40 cms., oak wood." (Copied from the back of oleograph)  

"Oilograph" or "oleograph" is defined as: "A color lithograph varnished and impressed with a grainy texture to simulate an oil painting, especially popular in the C.19". It looks like the original and is classified as an art piece. Do a web search on the term. Some pieces have sold for hundreds of GBPs.

Once the auction is concluded the item can be picked up at a well known business landmark, just north of Voortrekkerhoogte/Thaba Tshwane. If the buyer wishes the item to be delivered, it will be for the purchaser's cost.
