Old Bakelite & Metal Telephone - Made in Japan

I do not have much knowledge on these phones - can't determine how old it is. The person I bought it from said it did work before it was plugged out. Still has the older type connection on. The brass plating has faded and the picture in the middle of the dial. Otherwise it appears in reasonable condition.
