This clock was converted to an electric clock and presented to Captain Alastair M. Mackay, a Cape Town Harbour pilot on leaving for East London being promoted to Harbour Master. See the plaque. Sadly during retirement Capt. Mackay and his wife were attacked at home and he did not survive. I purchased this clock from his estate some years ago. The clock was terribly tarnished being exposed to the sea air. Corrosion damage can be seen on the clock face at 1'o clock but only visible when the glass is opened. Some cutting was done to fit the movement. Tested and running. The bell hammer was left disconnected as it needs to be adjusted to hit the bell
