Old man's saltbush with its green-grey leaves are used as animal feed, to flavour dishes (replacing salt) and are also used to restore soil.
They are evergreen with roundish, fleshy leaves covered by minute salty scales or soft silky hairs. They are great to re-vegetate cleared areas. They can grow up to 3 meters high in any soil with ph of 6 or higher. Frost and drought tolerate with a deep taproot.
They are also great to grow to improve soil quality.
