Old 1960s SADF Military R1 Rifle Socket Bayonet in Steel Scabbard (Union Military Marked) with Canvas Frog

ON AUCTION IS AN OLD 1960S SADF MILITARY R1 RIFLE SOCKET BAYONET. COMPLETE WITH STEEL SCABBARD AND CANVAS FROG.
 
SCABBARD IS MARKED WITH A LETTER M INSIDE A U, INDICATING UNION OF SOUTH AFRICAN MILITARY PROPERTY. SOCKET ALSO MARKED WITH ITS SERIAL NUMBER OF 291235.
 
Used with the FN/R1 rifle during the 1960s1970s. South Africa procured the original FAL RIFLES FROM FN Herstal, a Belgian company in 1963. Subsequent FN-FAL rifles were produced under license at the state owned arms factory ARMSCOR and were designated R1.
 
It comes complete with the original canvas frog, and bears Union military markings, adding historical and collectible value.
 
ITS ASSOCIATION WITH SOUTH AFRICAN FORCES DURING THE BUSH WAR ERA MAKES IT SOUGHT AFTER BY COLLECTORS.
