Hardcover set of four volumes, Centenary Edition published 1897 by Chapman And Hall, forming part of The Works of Thomas Carlyle in Thirty Volumes. All four volumes are externally edge-worn and scuffed in places. There is much foxing to the first and last few pages, as well as to external page edges. The rear board of volume II has come away completely from the block of pages, but is still attached at the spine. Each has the name of a previous owner in pencil on the first end-paper.
