Until the mid-1960s, the Olivetti typewriters (founded by Camillo Olivetti in 1908), were fully mechanical. Introduced at the World Fair in Turin in 1911, the first Olivetti typewriter, the M1, was made of about 3000 hand made parts and weighed 17 kg

The Olivetti Studio 44 typewriter weighs 8kg and is an emblem of mid-20th-century design, innovation, and craftsmanship. Launched in 1952, the Studio 44 is renowned for its robust build, sophisticated aesthetics, and smooth typing action.

By 1994, Olivetti stopped production of typewriters, as more and more users were transitioning to personal computers.
