About the Book:
First published in 1964, One-Dimensional Man is Herbert Marcuses seminal critique of modern industrial society. The book argues that advanced technological civilization creates false needs and suppresses critical thought, resulting in conformity and a loss of individual freedom. Marcuse identifies how social, economic, and political systems manipulate both workers and consumers into passive acceptance of the status quo. The work became a cornerstone of 1960s countercultural and student movements.
