It can stand a long time without bulbing and becoming strong.Sow thinly in pre-watered shallow drills, and cover with a little more soil. Allow 20cm (8in) between rows. Keep soil moist until seedlings are established.No thinning is necessary, stems will increase in size but do not bulb. Draw soil up to stems to increase their blanch.
