A Medal to Commemorate the Opening of the Railway line from Ladysmith in Natal through through the Van Reenen Pass in Drakensberg Mountains to Harrismith in the Orange Free State.  The line was completed in 1892.  This is a scarce medal. Reference: www.southafricanmedals.com No. 0593.

White metal.  Diameter 38.7 mm. Mass 17.5 gm.
