The Optex BX Shield is a wireless passive infrared detector which offers 180 degrees pattern covering 4 zones (2 on each side). It has a maximum coverage distance of 12 meters on each which can be independently adjusted to suit one's requirements. It features a SHIELD housing which protects it from rain and extreme heat thereby allowing it to used outdoors without damaging it. Furthermore, it makes use of AND logic function to reduce false alarms, meaning an alarm is only triggered if both the lower and upper detection areas detect movement. With its 4 PIR technology the detection range, sensitivity and alarm output can be set separately for the left and right areas. The sensor can differentiate between large and small objects within the detection area thereby reducing false activations and ensuring genuine intruder detection.
The Optex BX Shield also has an extreme high detection mode which increases its sensitivity and ensures that it is able to differentiate between a human body and the environment when the temperature difference is small. This is also enhanced by the Super MultiDimensional Analysis (SMDA) logic which analysis the environment and is able to distinguish between the environment (weather, vegetation and noise) and a genuine intrusion. An alarm is triggered if the face cover, main unit or base unit it removed.
