According to Hern’s Handbook on the Medallions of the Zuid Afrikaanche Republiek and the Anglo Boer, these gigantic bronze medals (weight 89.6 grams and 60 mm diameter) were issued (supplied) on the 29th November 1902 by the Dutch medal makers Begeer of Holland. It was issued in honour of President Steyn of the Orange Free State and initiated by the Dutch Numismatic Society.

It is catalogued at R2000.00 but the superb condition of this one, as struck and issued in its original box, must surely warrant a premium.
