A very attractive Satsuma style bowl - with markings indicating production in Nippon(Japan) . The inside is decorated with moriage or raised enamel showing the Kannon at the centre (goddess) surrounded by 3 holy men - rakans.The dish measures 16.5 cm x 16.5 cm.Height 4 cm.
The dish has no chips or cracks but on careful review there are two minor enamel losses , one at the top right inner corner and the other on the right hand rakan - these are to be expected given the vintage age of the dish and do not detract from the dish. I have done a review and have not been able to identify the maker but the Nippon markings are identifiable and thus give an idea that it carries some age. If you love oriental ware, this one is for you.
