Shipping memorabilia – Arundel Castle name plate and penknife
The Arundel Castle was a British ocean liner which entered service in 1921 for the Union-Castle Line. Her sister ship was the SS Windsor Castle - they were the only four-funnelled liners not built for transatlantic service. She received a refit in 1937 and served in the Second World War as a transport vessel in the Mediterranean.
The RMS Arundel Castle was withdrawn from service in 1958
There is a crack in the wood at the back which does not detract from the front visual effect of the nameplate. The “u” in the Arundel name on the penknife is slightly worn.
Both are probably at least 60 years old. 2 great pieces of original shipping memorabilia for the serious collector.
