An original 13 page typescript of Ingrid Jonker's "Ballade van die drie Vriende" (Ballad of the three Friends) . The three friends referred to are the authors Uys Krige, Jan Rabie and Jack Cope. They were Ingrid Jonker's close friends.
This early typescript by Jonker contains her own revisions in pencil. Jonker seems to have typed most of her work rather than write it and then afterwards made revisions.

Compared with the official published text in "Kantelson" which came out in 1966 there appear to be quite a few omissions and additions.
Many of the commas in this typescript were omitted as well as the indications of what voice the participants had to speak in.
Some of the dialogue of the three speakers which appears in this text was also omitted.
Some textual differences are also apparent.
The introductory page which set the scene of the ballad was also omitted.
Ingrid worked for the publisher BALKEMA and most of her works were typed on thin paper. Even the poem "Die Kind" that was given to Mandela and read by him at the opening of parliament in 1994 was typed. Jonker made annotations in pencil on this 13 page manuscript stating in what type of voice each participant (Jack, Uys and Jan) must speak.
Ingrid Jonker was the author of "Ontvlugting", "Rook en Oker" and "Kantelson".
