In 1974 he was graduated with a Diploma in Graphic Design at Johannesburg Technikon. Because he was one of the leading pupils the Authority offered him lecture work in the Technikon. He himself was very hungry for creating artwork in the natural environment so he sacrificed the good job in the Technikon for risky live as an art painter . He decided to leave lecturing and move with family to the nature. He chose wildlife in the bush around Phalaborwa. This decision has got primary effect on his artwork creation. Because of that he is recognized as one of the leading wildlife artist in the country. The natural environment in which he has been painting dominated his all artwork. From 1950 he has been exhibited his work in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia ,California, Australia, West Germany, Japan and England. His artwork is presented in number of banks, recognized companies or other institutions and private collectors in the country and oversea. |
In 1989 Mark was ask to design a series of stamps for the Venda Government. His commissions are a large painting for the 'Foundation for Research and Development' (1993), artwork ordered for BMW's boardroom (1993) and large work for His Majesty King Mtswati of Swaziland (1994). In 1997, He painted 5 large landscapes ordered by Liberty Life in Johannesburg for their new Training Centre |
