DESCRIPTION:

THIS ITEM IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AS PER PICTURES.

As one of five sons,, born in 1913, of Russian Immigrants he began painting in his teens. He was granted acceptance to study at The Cooper Union in NYC. During extensive travels in Mexico and Nova ScotiaBoris sketched and painted the local flavor. In Mexico, he met and painted with Jose Orozco, who's style of bold symbolism would later infulence some of Chezar's work. 
During World War II, Boris served in the Army-Air Force, painting huge murals depicting inspiritional military themes. He started in commercial art with J. Walter Thompson after the war. Not long after that he began working as a portrait artist at resorts in the Borscht Belt of the Catskills Mountains. 
In the mid 70's Chezar completed hundreds of limited edition original prints, many with cosmic and nature themes. Here are a few of this hand rolled, hand pulled original intaglio etchings. 
Boris lived to age 95 and painted to the very end. Boris Chezar 1913-2008
