Written - on the rear of the cartoon: "Adv C. R Swart, Minister van Justisie critiseer die Engelse pers vir sy beriggewing" (Adv. C. R. Swart criticises the English press for their reporting).
The photographs of the cartoon are an integral part of the description.

SUBJECT
Swart is a caricature of angry school teacher with ruler in his hand, punishing the English Press (school boys in a classroom) by
twisting the ear of one of them. The boy is writing with a quill pen and has ink stains all over both hands.
THE CARTOONIST
Victor Ivanoff was a South African artist and cartoonist. (b 1909 Russia, d 1990, SA)
After the the Ivanoff family fled in 1920,Victor enrolled to study architecture. His studies were abandoned.
He joined a Cossack Choir on a tour to visit South Africa in 1936. Ivanoff stayed, first employed as political cartoonist by Noticias, before finding work as a cartoonist at
the Afrikaans newspaper in Johannesburg, a position he held for 37 years.
