He come to Namibia in 1926, Werner Fordelmann settled in Namibia where he opened a butchery as a qualified butcher
serving his German community. Here he fell in love with the many different facets of this amazing country where the light changed

the scenery by the hour. The mountains could be blue in the morning and late afternoon change to a stunning pink as far as the eye could see.
During the Second World War he was placed in a camp where he continued painting. He then repatriated to Germany for eleven years. Here he
studied with a professor in
Humburg. He painted in new styles of color and rural country side and homesteads which he Favored.

When he returned to South Africa he settled in Graaff Reinet . He traveled extensively to study the vastly different regions but he loved,
The Cape, the Mountains and the see the most. During the 60`s he settled in Johannesburg on a farm in Honedew
where he worked and marketed his art. He showed his art in galleries but had a studio at home. In the early 70`s he
moved to Middleburg in the Cape. He found this perfect place halfway between Johannesburg and Capetown. He enjoyed
doing his own marketing, travelling to see clients all over the country. Many Hotels boasted with huge paintings
in their entrance hall and dining rooms in the cape. Werner Fordelmann never gave up painting although he may have painted
less during the last years of his life. He died quietly in his studio just days before his 89th birthday celebration.
