ORNATE LARGE VINTAGE GARNET 9CT YELLOW GOLD RING.
'375' LONDON ASSAY!
This gorgeous ornate vintage ring from England is set with 4 oval-cut garnets that fan out like a cross from the centre. It is a distinctly showy piece with intricate gold filigree curlicews between the gemstones, which are a beautiful deep ruby port colour. The contrast with the yellow gold is lovely, and the use of claw setting adds to the detailing. The solid shank splits into 3 as it moves up the shoulders of the ring; the two outside tines spread outward to form the curlicews that hold the left- and right-hand garnets, whilst the middle tines are twisted strands that attach to the same garnets. Intricate and decorative, the openwork lightens the look of the shank, and raises the ring head above the finger. Just under 5 grams, it is heavy, opulent and luscious!
This ring bears the hallmark '375' for 9ct yellow gold, the date mark '1973' and the London Assay.
