OUT OF THIS WORLD ROCK AND MINERAL COLLECTION (2ND OF 2) IN DISPLAY CABINET

A WONDERFUL ROCK AND MINERAL COLLECTION IN A BEAUTIFUL DISPLAY CABINET. IN THIS BOX NO NAMES ARE INDICATED ON FRONT PANELS. SOME ROCKS AND MINERALS I WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY BUT SOME INTERESTING ONES I WAS ABLE TO IDENTIFY FOR THE BUYER.

SOME INTERESTING ROCKS IN THIS COLLECTION ARE:

Yellow Calcite
(1st sample top row) is a gorgeous stone shimmering with the suns vibrant light! Its color vibrancy can vary from pale pastel yellow to rich lemon yellow. Most will be surprised to learn that the Great Sphinx of Giza, this historic work of art has one unique feature: Its made entirely of Yellow Calcite!

Natural Agate Geode is sample no 2 on the 1st row. Geodes are spherical rocks that contain hollow cavities sometimes lined with crystals.

Tektites (3rd sample top row) is a unique and beautiful natural glass believed to have cosmic origins! Tektites resemble shiny, glass-like pebbles and are typically black. Tektites can be found in a handful of places around the world (Australia, China, Thailand, Northwest Africa, USA), making it fairly rare. Tektites name is rooted in the Greek word tektos meaning molten,. Although there origens are somewhat mysterious currently, the leading theory is that tektite forms because of meteorites! According to scientists, tektite is a fused glass caused by a meteorite impacting Earth.

Bismuth (sample 4th top row) is not very common in the earth but it is almost twice as abundant as gold in the earth's crust, bismuth is a brittle metal, silvery white in colour when it is freshly produced, and often seen with a pink tinge. Bismuth makes a thin coating of bismuth oxide when it is in air. This makes the colors on the crystals - it makes some of the most beautiful shiny crystals which is immediately recognisable when seen. As a liquid it is heavier than as a solid. Another chemical that does this is water with ice floating on water. The largest bismuth producing countries are China, Peru, Mexico, and Belgium. With more than 70 bismuth mines, China also accounts for approximately 90 percent of global bismuth production and reserves.

Desert Rose (4th sample 3rd row) crystals are a unique formation of gypsum and sand which form rosette-like shapes, also known as Sand Roses. These formations are created when the wet desert sands combine with evaporated mineral solutions. The structure consists of flat plates that start to grow outward from the center in all directions. The crystalline structure of Desert Rose Crystal makes it sought after by collectors.

Aventurine (1st sample bottom row) is an eye-catching crystal that is adored by many for its magnificent shimmery appearance. The presence of the mineral Fuchsite lends Aventurine its unique green tone that is highly rare amongst quartz varieties. Aventurine is hence also referred to as Aventurine Quartz, and Indian Jade.

Magnetite (sample 4th bottom row) it is the most magnetic of all the naturally occurring minerals on Earth. Normal magnetite is attracted to a magnet but naturally magnetized pieces of magnetite, called lodestone, will attract small pieces of iron, which is how ancient peoples first discovered the property of magnetism. Pieces of lodestone suspended on a string served as the first magnetic compasses and were used in China as early as 300 BC. When freely suspended on a string, a small piece of lodestone will align itself with Earth's magnetic field.
