A very good hardcover book with a very good dustjacket.

Dustjacket is rubbed, a pinkish spot stain at the foot of the spine which has leached through to the reverse, a 1cm square of paperloss at the head of the spine panel, now in loose protective plastic overwrap.

Map illustrated ends showing offset.

Back end-paper hinge is fragile showing some splitting.

Pagination xviii + 310 including index.

The many indexed photographic illustrations, line drawing illustrations and maps are all present, including a fold-out leaf showing the descendants of I - Dirk Gysbert van Reenen; II Jan Frederick Reitz; III - Hermanus Steyn and listing the children of Alexander Reid.
