Ozalid Photo Reproduction of Cities of South Africa - 19th and 20th Cent
On offer this superb find for the Collector of Rare Africana! Reproduced photographs of cities of South African, comparing the cities from mid 19th to mid 20th century. Included is a cover letter by the Managing Director of Ozalid, RS Albrecht, outlining the company's involvement in the development of South African cities by supplying drawing offices with the materials and instruments to plan the further expansion of these cities, the letter dated Dec 1958. This is issue 4, the second series of this "South African Cities". Cities covered are East London, Durban, Pretoria, Bloemfontein and Welkom. These cities all have 2 photos, the 19th century photos are of either original photos or sketches and the 20th C photos are aerial views for comparison, except for Welkom where the 1 photo shows the aerial view only, showing growth of the town within 10 years. Included also a 1 page description on each city. Some sheets have staining on the edges, but the reproduced photos all in very good condition. The sheets measures 38x31.5cm.
