Pair of Antique Bundt Donut Shaped Cast Iron Cake Pans with Gate Marks
ON AUCTION ARE TWO VINTAGE CAST IRON BUNDT CAKE PANS. BOTH HAS GATE MARK IMPERFECTIONS CONFIRMING THEIR ANTIQUE AGE.
Vintage cast iron cake pans often feature gate marks from the casting process, which appear as raised lines or ridges or imperfections on the pan's surface. Gate marks are imperfections left from where molten metal was poured into the mold during the casting process. These gate marks are a sign of older, hand-poured cast iron, distinguishing them from newer, smoother pans with more uniform finishes due to modern manufacturing methods..

BUNDT CAKES: A Bundt cake is a cake that is baked in a Bundt pan, shaping it into a distinctive donut shape. Although the Bundt Cake mark was trademarked by Nordic Ware in 1950, Bundt cake pans are not generally associated with any single recipe or maker. Vintage cast iron Bundt pans, popular in the 18th and 19th centuries, originated in Europe and were known by various names like "Google Hoof". The pans are recognized by their ring shape, often featuring intricate designs and gate marks from their manufacturing process. Nordic Ware, a family-owned manufacturing firm in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was founded in 1946 by brothers Dave and Mark Dalquist. In 1950, the brothers bought Northland Aluminum Products. The same year, Dave Dalquist created a cast aluminum, fluted cake pan and trademarked it as the Bundt pan. Nordic Ware manufactured this pan in the 1950s.
