A lovely pair of Georgian Irish silver tongs with attractive bright cut patterning and shell bowls made by Benjamin Tait of Dublin c1780. the tongs measure 14cm long and weigh 32 grams. They are in good condition for age. There is some wear to the bow, with the one arm slightly out of alignment, and the marks are rubbed. Makers mark and hibernia is clear, crowned harp very rubbed and no evidence of a date letter, which was common on small pieces of the period. Benjamin Tait worked in the last quarter of the 18th century.
