DESCRIPTION:
A pair of chrome-plated tubular steel and Naugahyde synthetic leather Model B3 chairs,
designed by Marcel Breuer (1902-1981) in 1925-26 while head of the Weimar-based
Bauhaus School of Architecture and Design cabinet-making workshops. The design
was admired by Wassily Kandinsky, but only became known as the Wassily chair in
the early 1960's when it was re-released by the Italian manufacturer Gavina.
MARKS:
Bottom of seats impressed with number 2-2002 and hand-written date 28/03/2003.
CONDITION:
Most arm-rests and side-straps have split along stitching and have been glued. All Allen
screws and end-caps intact. A few scuffs to arm-rests and some fraying to fabric backing.
