Pair WW1 'Trench Art' Brass Artillery Shells
This lovely, very early, matching pair of large brass 'Trench Art' artillery shells have been beautifully hand hammered and decorated with flowers, by a soldier during the first world war. The base of the shells have numerous markings and stamps of which I'll list a few, the one '1916, 18PR II, RL P, CF, JLD, R.A.L., S' and the other '1916, M.L.W., 118 P, DAG,18PR, 30 10 16, V.S.M.' The shell casings have a lovely, polished brass patina and their overall condition is good, with one having a small tear at the top and the other with a minor tear in the middle, but not noticeable. They each stand 29cm high, have a base diameter of 10cm and have a combined weight of 2715g.
Please feel free to email me with any queries and please look closely at the pictures provided as they are of the actual item and form a vital part of the description.
