PLANTING SEASON: Spring & Summer
Paprika is a less pungent pepper. It is a fantastic cooking condiment. Removal of seeds and the thin papery tissues to which the seeds are attached can help reduce the strength of pepper or left in for the palate that enjoys a more spicy flavour.
The paprika pepper grows on a large variety of fertile soils but thrives best on a warm, mellow, well-drained, sandy loam or clay loam type. The plant is propagated exclusively from seed, which may be planted in seedbeds or directly in the field. In beds the seed is sown as early in sping as possible, and the seedlings are then ready to be planted in the field as soon as the danger of frost has passed. They are spaced 30 to 45 cm apart, in rows 75 to 100 cm apart. Cultivate frequently to keep weeds from competing with your plants. Plants are frost sensitive.
