Parabat knife parachute battalion survival knife

This is an example of a knife that would have been issued to infantry paratroopers in the SADF. The origins of these knives is the US, where it was developed for jet pilots. The knife was obtained in South Africa, but whether it was actually issued here is unknown. The sheath came from the US, but is correct to the knife. There is mannequin dressed in parabat gear at the military museum in Johannesburg where the knife can be seen strapped to the leg.
